JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Laboratory Assistant is responsible for a variety of tasks in the laboratory. These tasks may include but are not limited to, secondary labeling of slide and cassette, sorting slides and paperwork for delivery, material filing, performing QC and maintenance on various pieces of laboratory equipment, and maintaining stock and keeping the laboratory clean. They will assist Laboratory Technicians in the laboratory as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet CLIA regulations according to 42 CFR 493.1495
- Maintain complete documentation for all steps of the processes as outlined in SOPs
- Will hand special staining and cover slipping
- Assist in delivery of specimens to the lab
- Slide and cassette labeling
- Performs and documents preventative maintenance on equipment
- Maintains lab cleanliness
- Stocks Supplies
- Other duties as assigned.
