Job Summary
As a Clinical Laboratory Officer, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the scientific research of biological fluids, such as blood or saliva for disease prevention. You’ll manage laboratory operations, supervise tests, and provide expert advice on collected research to support our national defense. You'll conduct and direct the performance of laboratory procedures used in the detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
Responsibilities
- Test and analyze specimens: Conduct tests on body fluids like blood, urine, and tissue to provide data for diagnosis and treatment.
- Laboratory management: Oversee laboratory operations and the work of other medical laboratory personnel.
- Quality control: Perform quality control on test results and calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Specimen handling: Collect, process, and handle blood and other biological specimens according to established procedures.
- Blood banking: Perform elementary and advanced blood banking procedures, including processing blood for transfusion.
- Record keeping: Maintain detailed records of all laboratory work performed and enter results into patient medical records.
- Equipment maintenance: Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, such as microscopes and automated cell counters.
- Consultation: Discuss laboratory findings and test results with physicians.
- Research and development: Participate in research and help develop new tools and technologies for diagnosing and treating illness.
Job Types: Contract, Permanent, Per diem, Temporary, Part-time
Pay: $89,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
