Acupath Laboratories operates a CLIA-approved, NYS-licensed, and CAP-accredited Diagnostics Division that includes Fluorescent in situ Hybridization (FISH) and Molecular Genetics. As our FISH department grows, there is a position is available immediately for a technician in the area of FISH. This is an entry-level position in which the FISH Technician works under the general supervision of the FISH laboratory manager and laboratory director performing FISH analysis on single cell and tissue biopsies.
Duties:
- Performs both analytical and non-analytical laboratory tasks as required with minimal supervision.
- Identifies problems in department laboratory systems and in communication with the technical staff, develops and implements and documents any corrective action taken.
- Completes routine periodic instrument maintenance and documents same in quality control records.
- Maintains adequate supply of lab reagents and supplies. Prepares reagents and records results checks of activity and suitability for use in patient testing.
- Actively participates in the department quality assurance and quality improvement programs and adheres to policies and procedures developed for the department.
- In collaboration with other technical staff, troubleshoots technical problems by instituting appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintains and assures a clean and organized workplace.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a life science (Biology, Chemistry, etc.) required.
- Must qualify for NYS DOH license (completed a minimum of a B.S).
- Excellent critical thinking skills and attention to detail are required.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and maintain laboratory records in an orderly and comprehensive manner.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
