Work Schedule:
- Full-time, exempt position with variable hours
- Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM (minimum of 8 hours per day)
- Minimum 40-hour workweek, with possible Saturday afternoon shifts as needed
- Schedules provided 2 weeks in advance
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated General Lab Manager and Molecular Technologist to oversee our molecular diagnostic operations. This role is essential to our laboratory’s success and includes managing day-to-day tasks, leading a skilled team, and driving innovation within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Expertise and Laboratory Management
- Set up and operate equipment, including DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, and RT-qPCR.
- Implement and monitor quality control measures, verification, and validation of assays.
- Oversee specimen tracking, preparation, and reporting in line with laboratory best practices.
- Ensure compliance with CLIA/COLA and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct time-sensitive testing and maintain high-quality results.
Team Leadership
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate team members.
- Participate in recruitment, training, and onboarding processes.
- Set departmental goals, manage performance, and foster a collaborative team culture.
Strategic Planning and Project Management
- Develop strategies to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
- Oversee resource allocation and manage project timelines and budgets.
Process Improvement and Innovation
- Identify process inefficiencies, implement solutions, and drive continuous improvement.
- Stay current with industry trends and encourage innovative approaches within the team.
Compliance, Financial Management, and Reporting
- Plan and manage departmental budgets and resources.
- Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory standards.
- Report on department performance, project statuses, and metrics to upper management.
Stakeholder and Customer Engagement
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align departmental goals.
- Resolve any issues or concerns raised by clients or internal departments.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience in molecular diagnostics, preferably in a leadership role.
- Strong proficiency in laboratory skills, including pipetting, aseptic techniques, and DNA/RNA extraction.
- Familiarity with QuantStudio, automation systems, and molecular testing equipment.
- Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Medical Technology, or a related field preferred. ASCP MLS or MB certification and/or state licensure is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
