We are seeking an experienced Molecular Laboratory Technologist with a strong background in independent labs and high-throughput testing environments.
Position Summary
The Molecular Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for performing and overseeing molecular testing workflows, including PCR, gene-based assays, and chemistry testing. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with QuantStudio platforms, understands CLIA high-complexity standards, and can operate efficiently in a fast-paced lab environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesMolecular Testing & PCR
- Perform real-time PCR testing (including multiplex panels such as STI, respiratory, wound, GI, UTI)
- Operate and maintain QuantStudio 7 Flex Real-Time PCR System
- Prepare reagents, master mixes, and perform plate setup (96/384 well formats)
- Execute nucleic acid extraction and sample preparation workflows
- Analyze amplification curves, Ct values, and validate results
Advanced Testing
- Perform and assist in gene-based testing / molecular diagnostics
- Support NGS workflows (if applicable)
- Conduct basic chemistry and hematology testing (CBC, analyzers, etc.)
- Assist in assay validation, LOD studies, and quality assurance processes
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and HIPAA regulations
- Maintain proper documentation for all testing procedures
- Participate in quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) programs
- Assist in proficiency testing and audits
Lab Operations
- Maintain lab equipment and troubleshoot issues
- Ensure proper inventory management (reagents, consumables)
- Work collaboratively with lab leadership to optimize workflow efficiency
- Train junior staff and assist in SOP implementation
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field
- 3–5+ years of experience in a molecular or clinical laboratory
- Strong experience with:
- PCR testing (high-volume preferred)
- Molecular diagnostics workflows
- Experience in independent labs (NOT just hospital labs)
Preferred
- Experience with:
- QuantStudio 7 Flex Real-Time PCR System
- High-complexity CLIA labs
- NGS (Next Generation Sequencing)
- Chemistry analyzers / CBC
- ASCP Certification (MLS/MT/MB)
- Experience with LIS systems and lab automation

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
