Overview
FINA Labs is a licensed cannabis analytical laboratory that specializes in testing for cultivators, processors, and manufacturers. We are seeking a full-time Lab Technician to support our testing workflow and assist with sample preparation and instrument operation in a fast-paced laboratory environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory procedures and data analysis within regulated environments.
Job Description
Tests performed may include cannabinoid potency (HPLC), terpene profiling (GC-MS), pesticide analysis (LC-MS), heavy metals (ICP-MS), and microbial screening (PCR/qPCR).
Employees will begin by learning one complete analysis or workflow before advancing to additional instruments or test methods. Advancement into new analyses will occur based on laboratory needs, employee progress, and management approval.
Responsibilities include:
· Preparing cannabis samples, reagents, standards, and dilutions following established SOPs.
· Operating and assisting with analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-MS, and PCR systems.
· Accurately weighing, aliquoting, digesting, extracting, and homogenizing samples.
· Documenting all work in the LIMS system and maintaining proper chain-of-custody.
· Frequently working in Microsoft Excel for data entry, calculations, and daily reporting.
· Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors.
· Occasional work with solvents, acids, biological materials, and hazardous chemicals using proper PPE and fume hoods.
· Maintaining clean, safe, and organized laboratory workspaces at all times.
Requirements
- Must be able to pass a background screening as required per chapter 342, regarding cannabis testing facilities
- 2 years lab experience preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency with laboratory information management systems (LIMS), laboratory techniques, and analysis skills.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong math skills for data analysis and interpretation.
- Ability to follow detailed laboratory procedures accurately while maintaining high standards of quality control.
- Prior experience working within a regulated environment such as pharmaceutical or veterinary laboratories is desirable.
- Effective communication skills for documenting results clearly and collaborating with team members.
