Position Summary
The Mechanical Testing Lab Technician supports the Laboratory Manager and Senior Research Chemist by testing new and existing resin systems. This role generates mechanical and physical test data for customer requirements, Technical Data Sheets (TDS), and production certifications, while also providing backup support for Quality Control (QC) testing.
Responsibilities
- Prepare test articles and specimens for mechanical and physical evaluations
- Perform testing for development projects and production batches
- Organize and maintain electronic test data and detailed lab records
- Format customer‑facing test reports
- Support QC testing to validate material for shipment
- Save and manage project data within company systems
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills
- Experience operating mechanical testing equipment (tensile, lap shear, FTIR, DMA, DSC, TMA, rheometer, thermal conductivity, etc.)
- Strong documentation, organization, and attention to detail
- Ability to analyze data and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Education & Experience
- Associate or technical degree in composites, materials, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a mechanical testing or lab environment
Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements:
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
