Position Overview
SPN is seeking a Texas state-certified, bilingual (Spanish-speaking) Grade 6-12 Science Teacher to deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in a predominantly non-English-speaking classroom. The ideal candidate will foster inquiry-based learning, support language development, and help students build critical thinking and problem-solving skills through scientific exploration.
Key Responsibilities
· Deliver high-quality science instruction (e.g., biology, chemistry, or integrated science) aligned to Texas state standards
· Utilize inquiry-based, hands-on, and experiential learning strategies
· Differentiate instruction to meet diverse academic and language needs
· Integrate English language development into science instruction
· Monitor student progress, attendance, and engagement; maintain accurate grade records
· Communicate expectations clearly and provide timely, constructive feedback
· Ensure safe handling of materials, equipment, and lab procedures
· Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices and student outcomes
· Utilize technology and student information systems (SIS) for instruction and reporting
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
· Valid Texas Teaching Certification (Science, Grades 6–12 preferred)
· Bilingual in Spanish (required)
· ESL Certified or in process of obtaining certification
· Ability to pass federal background check requirements
Preferred Qualifications
· Master’s degree in science, education, or related field
· Experience working with English language learners
· Experience with lab-based and project-based instruction
· Familiarity with technology-driven or blended learning environments
Skills & Abilities
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to simplify complex scientific concepts for diverse learners
· Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and classroom management
· Experience with student information systems (SIS)
· Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and manage classroom/lab materials
· Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout instructional periods
Compensation & Benefits
Salary $79,000
