The responsibility of the Lead Respiratory Therapist is to function as a competent Respiratory Care Practitioner to provide advanced respiratory care to patients 18 years and older. In addition, the Lead Respiratory Therapist assumes an active leadership role under the direction of the practice administrator.
The Lead Respiratory Therapist ensures that all staff are competency verified and leads the process of continuing quality improvement. Demonstrates mastery in the knowledge and skills of their specialized designated area of practices. Works collaboratively with the other lead respiratory therapist from other locations and takes a proactive role to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the department. In this role and in collaboration with the other Lead Respiratory Therapists peers to implement of new equipment, guidelines, standards, and orientation. Demonstrates motivation, discipline, and accountability with patient care and government reporting. Provides oversight, input, and assistance to developing departmental and operational budgets. Demonstrates proficiency in technology to promote communication, safety concerns, and documentation of care. Maintains an up-to-date clinical and scientific knowledge of respiratory care procedures, equipment, and medications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensed as a Respiratory Care Therapist in the state of South Carolina.
- Must be registered as a Respiratory Therapist -RRT or CRT by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- BLS certification required.
