Job Title: Microbiology Research Technician
Location: St. Louis, MO
Hours: Need to be flexible, 6:00am/7:00am - 2:30pm/3:30pm (training 8:00am - 5:00pm) (may vary depending on projects)
Type: 12 month contract
Compensation: $26.00 - $30.00/hr.

Basic Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Life Sciences (e.g., Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Biology) with 1-3 years of lab-based Life Science and Microbiology experience
- Experience and ability to work in a team based BSLII laboratory environment
- Ability to lift 15 – 20 lbs. (food sample enrichments)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Microbiology techniques including but not limited to culture media preparation, culture preparation and propagation, and culture identification
- Experience working with pathogenic microorganisms
- Extensive practice in aseptic technique
- Experience in experimental planning, data interpretation, and proposing next steps to the management
- Experience and ability to work in a food microbiology and diagnostics environment
- Biohazard Safety Level II environment and/or microbiological environmental monitoring
- Experience in performing PCR and/or immunological assays
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel strongly preferred
- Strong motivation, attention to detail, and ability to think independently and fully integrate into a high achieving team environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a diverse team environment
- Flexibility and ability to perform in a high-pressure environment
- Ability to execute and troubleshoot experiments independently
- Experience in Good Documentation Practices within a research environment
Responsibilities:
- Conduct microbiological testing and analysis using established laboratory techniques to identify and quantify microorganisms.
- Maintain strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP), and FDA regulations to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Prepare, process, and analyze biological samples, including those related to histology, molecular biology, and clinical specimens, following detailed laboratory procedures.
- Utilize Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for accurate data collection, sample tracking, and documentation of experimental results.
- Perform quality control assessments on laboratory reagents, media, and equipment to ensure optimal performance for research activities.
- Support research & development initiatives by assisting in experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of results related to microbiology and veterinary terminology.
- Maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment while adhering to safety protocols and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in microbiology, biology, veterinary science, or a related scientific field.
- Proven laboratory experience in industrial or clinical settings with knowledge of microbiology techniques.
- Familiarity with GLP, CGMP, FDA regulations, and quality control procedures is highly desirable.
- Experience with molecular biology methods such as PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, or histology is preferred.
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex data accurately.
- Proficiency in using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and other laboratory software tools.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with effective communication skills for documenting procedures and results.
