The Laboratory Technician supports the long-term production of cosmetic raw materials within a controlled laboratory environment. This role is highly process-driven and science-focused, requiring strict adherence to SOPs, precise formulation techniques, and hands-on execution of laboratory procedures. The position involves accurate weighing and measuring of materials using analytical equipment, execution of purification and filtration techniques (including column chromatography), and detailed documentation of all laboratory activities. Consistent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and comfort working within standardized processes are essential for success in this role.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute cosmetic raw material formulations according to approved SOPs and batch instructions
- Accurately weigh, measure, and prepare materials using analytical balances and laboratory equipment
- Perform purification and processing techniques, including column chromatography and filtration methods
- Operate, monitor, and maintain laboratory equipment used in formulation and processing
- Document all activities, observations, and batch data in lab notebooks, logs, or electronic systems
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory spaces, equipment, and materials
- Prepare, label, store, and manage raw materials, intermediates, and finished batches
- Follow safety, quality, and material handling procedures at all times
- Identify deviations, process issues, or equipment concerns and escalate appropriately
- Support continuous improvement of laboratory processes and documentation
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field or equivalent hands-on laboratory experience
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow SOPs, batch records, and technical instructions
- Experience with precise weighing and measuring using analytical laboratory equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and reproducibility
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a structured laboratory environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in cosmetic, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated laboratory environments
- Hands-on experience with column chromatography and laboratory filtration techniques
- Familiarity with raw material formulation, compounding, or chemical processing
- Experience maintaining laboratory inventory and material tracking systems
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and data tracking tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet, or similar)
- Working knowledge of cosmetic manufacturing and quality standards (e.g., ISO 22716, ISO 9001, or similar frameworks)
- Understanding of documentation practices, traceability, and controlled records in a laboratory or production setting
