Job description:
Trailhead Biosystems is the pioneer of applying High-Dimensional Design-of-Experiments (HD-DoE) towards understanding systems developmental biology. Trailhead Biosystems seeks a Senior Research Scientist in the field of stem cell biology to develop industry-grade directed differentiation protocols for specialized cells within the mesodermal germ layer. The Senior Research Scientist will work in a fast-paced laboratory developing cell culture protocols of desirable phenotypes determined by company goals under guidance of R&D directors. We are looking for an adaptable team player, armed with a growth mind set, organized and strongly focused on product development. The position involves all aspects of stem cell biology including; designing experiments, culturing the cells, protocol development and process validation. The qualified individual will report directly to the scientific directors and work with a cross-disciplinary team that includes commercial, MSAT, and manufacturing teams.
Responsibilities:
· Design, execute and troubleshoot differentiation experiments to achieve company-wide target product profiles.
· Train and mentor junior scientists to manage daily lab tasks with a focus of producing quality products that reach company agreed objectives.
· Collaborate with team members and across departments to achieve defined objectives.
· Give data presentations of results, sharing observations, opinions, and findings for open discussion between teams to ensure timely development of products
· Prepare scientific reports for relevant stakeholders within the company.
· Will be responsible for following and creating SOPs for developing protocols and revising according to company recommendations.
· Work in and maintain an environment of professional integrity that is aligned with company policies.
· Will be responsible for ensuring company’s procedures, policies, and protocols are followed within teams.
· Maintain a safe lab environment for all by enforcing legal and organizational regulation and standards.
· Represent the company both locally and nationally at conferences by giving poster or oral presentations.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in stem cell biology or applied developmental biology with a minimum of 5 years of experience, though candidates of related fields with relevant experience will be considered if they have exceptional qualifications including:
· Comprehensive expertise in iPSC culture techniques and practices. Experience with suspension mammalian culture is a plus.
· Experience in biomanufacturing, bioreactor cultures or related disciplines.
· Experience with cellular and molecular assays including, RNAseq and flow cytometry. Experience with immune and blood cells is desirable.
· Good time management and organization skills. Is detailed oriented and efficient at executing high quality experiments. Good analytical skills and data-driven.
· Flexible and adaptable mindset willing to learn new methodologies that align with companies methodologies.
· Willing to reprioritize efforts to meet company’s goals and deadlines.
· Can independently thrive while working as part of a team.
· Willing to work flexible hours as necessary.
· Must be able to travel per project requirements less than 10% of the time.
· Has good written and oral communication skills.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
