Research positions (junior/postdoc and senior level) in computational systems biology are available at the NASA Ames Research Center. We are developing a multiscale modeling capability for computational biology for rational design of high precision therapeutics and diagnostics. Current projects involve metabolic modeling of CAR-T cells as well as signaling networks for cancer cells. In addition, we have an interest in NASA applications related to space health and space medicine.
Computational tools utilized include GEM models, flux balance analysis, network models, machine learning, high throughput methods, thermodynamic models, process modeling, multiphysics, etc.
We have multi-disciplinary teams (biologists, chemists, physicists, bioengineers) working on both experimental and computational issues. We collaborate widely with leading researchers at MD Anderson, Yale University, University of Pennsylvania, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Pittsburg as well as major pharmaceutical companies.
The candidate should hold a doctoraldegree in a relevant discipline, such as Biology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Applied Mathematics, etc. before the commencement of the appointment. The ideal candidate will have a solid theoretical biology background, significant scientific programming experience as well as extensive demonstrated expertise with standard software packages.
Interested persons should submit a CV including publication list and contact information for 2-3 references to John.W.Lawson@nasa.gov. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.
